Equity and evaluation is not a new concept by any means, but its about time that is getting its due and becoming more and more of way of doing business. Recently the Equitable Evaluation Initiative has highlighted a path forward for philanthropy, organizations and communities who want to ensure their work benefits the community in a equitable way.
They have shared 3 principals of equitable evaluation:
- Evaluation and evaluative work should be in service to equity
- Evaluative work can and should answer critical questions of equity
- Evaluative work should be designed and implemented commensurate with the values underlying equity work
