Hi, there! My name is Paige Saddler, and I am honored to be joining McNary Group this academic year. Presently, I am completing my Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) at the University of Louisville. As a lifelong Illinoisan, I jumped at the opportunity to relocate for master’s school. As fate will have it, Louisville and the esteemed Kent School of Social Work became the destination.
Coming of age in the 21st century has served as the basis of my social work trajectory. The injustices that plague this nation are ever-present and irrefutable. Therefore, social work became obvious not only as a career path, but rather, a humanic duty. My resulting personal and professional commitments to anti-racism, abolition, and dismantling white supremacy should not be lauded, but expected.
To sow the change that I deem necessary, macro-level work presents the most feasible and desired course of action. While I hold specific interests in advocacy and organizing, it is not limited to these extents. With mass incarceration and policing as two areas of focus of mine, the exact career orbit they may take me on is to be determined. Fortunately, I am able to call McNary home while I complete my master’s program, and simultaneously gain invaluable macro experience alongside the female-powered collective that is the McNary Group.
McNary Group welcomes Paige as our practicum student this year!
